A musing on the definition of "project"

I've seen several debates in this community that I think flow from the fact that current definitions of "project" - as they appear in a variety of sources - don't quite hit the mark. Not a great start for an aspiring profession!

I have written quiet…

IPMA Congress Flight Planning Window of Opportunity: Plan Now for Brisbane, Oct. 9-12!

In nearly 30 years of travel as an International Project and Program Management consultant, I have developed a series of guidelines for safe, inexpensive and reliable travel. There was even a time when I gave engagements that involved too many stopovers to my associates.

What brings up this posting right now is the observation that we are in a window of opportunity to book airfares from your location to Australia for the 25th Annual IPMA World Congress. It will be held in Brisbane,…

How To Beat the High Cost of Travel

Several years ago, as part of IPMA's Governance Group, that worked to improve IPMA communication, transparency, efficiency and effectiveness, one of my assignments was to write a position paper on managing the cost of travel. It was a time of increasing costs of fuel, which directly affects the cost of air travel. The paper was part of the Governance Group's…

This year for the first time we tried to combine all awards into an integrated ceremony including reserach, young crew, PE finalists etc.

In the logic of continous improvement and feedback leading back to a new learning loop I would…
