Sorry guys, I hate to be the perpetual skeptic, but the vast majority of our students want one thing and one thing only- to pass their PMP, AACE, INCOSE or PRINCE2 exams as quickly, as cheaply and with the least effort possible.  Less than 10% of them actually want to master the craft of project management/project controls.

Such are the consequences of those "not for profit" organizations who allow their training providers to focus on passing exams and not developing competent, capable professional practitioners.

IPMA/asapm are on the right track, but all we need to do is persevere......

2012  will  be  different...

The  international  scene  is  changing..

Projects  are  being  reviewed  and  evaluated  as  never  before.

PM professionals  must  be  STRATEGIC  THINKERS....planning  and  managing  with  business  savvy...

The  old  model  will  not  do  it...

The  PM  of  2005  is  obsolete.

Enough  said.

THOSE  WHO  DARE  TO TEACH......MUST  NEVER  CEASE  TO  LEARN...

Seen  or  heard  this  before  ???

Trainers  need  to  be  reminded.......these  are  changing  times...WORLDWIDE...and  the  same  old  lesson  plans,  etc..etc...DO  NOT  CUT  IT  ANY  MORE...

When  did  you  last  update  and  upgrade  your  lecture  notes ??

Managing  change  is  what  we  preach......let  us  practice  what  we  preach..

I have found that students of project management training programs are looking for tips, techniques and tools that are simple, yet effective in managing the daily trials project teams face.  The focus of my practice, both training and consulting, has been to offer simple tools or ideas that meet this need.  Using statements like "It's all about ME (managing expectations)" or "If I don't see you in the future, I'll see you in the pasture (Continuous learning)" are examples of what I offer in my programs.

(cc'd from asapm site by Goff) As PM trainers, we influence not only our students but also the people who participate in our students' projects. Our responsibility is awesome. I, for one, am eager for help from other trainers to improve the odds that I'll be learning what I should be learning, teaching what I should be teaching, and using the most effective and efficient methods for doing it. I hope many trainers will join this group and share what they have learned. I will also urge you to visit my own profile where you can find a photo of a motor yacht you might find useful in your own teaching.

(cc'd from asapm site by Goff) Good morning. I've trained project management and business analysis concepts since 1985. I've managed projects since 1970 and am a PMP. My training is based on the processes and principles in the PMBOK. The best part of my job is facilitating use case/user stories, business requirements, estimating, risk management, scope management, scheduling, and test case workshops for project teams. These workshops assist teams to begin creating specific deliverables like a schedule or test cases. A trainer must be able to help their students perform better at their jobs. I look forward to receiving as well as sharing training best practices and experiences.

(cc'd from asapm site by Goff) These days, training has become very competitive for organizations providing project management training. It seems that PMP training market has been saturated. I have been looking at discussions around "advanced project management" but have not received or found much information or opinions regarding what is meant by "advanced." I really would like to hear from professional PM trainers about what they believe to be truly advanced topics. What do project managers want to learn more about. What about IPMA certifications and competency? How are these certifications more advanced than PMP or PgMP? Whar other certifications are project managers seeking?
